About My Clients
I have found my strengths in working with people who find themselves feeling frequently on-edge, worried about their futures, or feeling let down by the people they look to for support. I work with clients who are facing challenges coping with stress related to family, relationships, loss, trauma, sociopolitical concerns, or complex symptoms of physical or mental disorders.
My Background and Approach
I use a combination of Motivational Interviewing with a strengths-focus to apply techniques of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). Self-care is at the foundation of my approach. I encourage my clients to find the unique things they value and dedicate time to experiencing joy and pleasure in their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in people. For this reason, I volunteer time as a board member of the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter. Beyond that, I like to keep my personal beliefs quiet because I want you to have complete room for yours. One of my great strengths as a therapist is in controlling my bias in session and making you feel completely supported. You will leave session feeling reinforced in the beliefs that are moving you forward and challenged in the beliefs that are holding you back. I want you to achieve your goals in this world, not mine.
