About My Clients
Are you having a hard time putting your feelings or thoughts into words, sharing your concerns with others, standing up for yourself, concentrating, or feeling easily overwhelmed? Most days, it's easy to manage, but other days these issues stop you from having meaningful relationships, affect your work or school, and living the life you deserve. I work hard to support you in developing the skills and confidence to accomplish what you set your sights on.
My Background and Approach
I became a therapist completely by accident. A friend suggested I take a job that required a degree in a psychology related field (mine was in sociology) and it happened to be a mental health specialist (I worked under an LPC and had similar responsibilities). I worked with a wide range of individuals assisting and supporting with life transitions, academic difficulties, relationship complications, and so much more. My supervisor (a true inspiration) urged me to go back to school to do this work fulltime, so, I did. My approach is primarily in Person Centered Therapy (PCT) while taking interventions from evidence-based practices like CBT, solutions-focused, and strengths-based modalities. These approaches allow everyone the space where they are treated with respect, understanding, and are encouraged to be their most genuine selves. Clients are also motivated to find solutions to concerns that work within their strengths, wisdom, and learning from personal experience to make change.
