Trauma is defined as anything that overwhelms one's ability to successfully cope with it. Do you have experiences in life that still haunt you today? Are those triggers interfering with the life you want to live? Those who have been traumatized through life's struggles can find help and healing here. Life can throw some wicked curve balls at us and we just need some help to get through it and move on to a better, happier life.
My Background and Approach
Hi! As a clinically-trained therapist, I want you to know that the struggles you face and the traumas you have experienced do not have to define you. You have the ability to create a new path for yourself, to live the life you really want to live. I would love to help you create that life. As a Christian counselor, I believe God created perfection and placed it all in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, sin entered the picture and people have been struggling with the effects of sin ever since. Sometimes that struggle is beyond our resources and understanding. We need to have someone help us through life's troubles. We will work together to build resources and coping skills through mindfulness exercises. We will focus on calming the body then the mind. At that point, we can target the trauma so you can get to a better place.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While awful things can happen to us, it is our choice how we respond to them. I can choose to let a horrible thing destroy my emotional well being, or I can take positive steps to become a stronger, more resilient, capable person. I can choose to let my emotions run away with me or I can choose to master my emotions and make them work for me. I am either the boss or the victim. My choice. But seldom will I conquer my traumas all by myself. I need someone to walk along side me as I take those positive steps. As a Christian believer, the one walking along side me is God. He is my guiding light. While my beliefs are central to my core self, I do not push my beliefs on to anyone. Your beliefs are yours and it is not my place to tell you what to believe. But, together we can work toward healing and wholeness for you.
