About My Clients
I have experience and training working with a wide array of issues but my specialties include: perinatal mental health as I have a passion for working with persons facing challenges during their pregnancy and postpartum phase; trauma (PTSD, intergenerational trauma, complex trauma), and depression.
My Background and Approach
I take an eclectic approach as I do not believe that effective therapy should be one size fits all. This means I use techniques from different types of therapy/treatment modalities, including, but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, trauma-focused therapies, family systems, and somatic therapy. I will do my best to support you at all times and meet you where you are at, which means I will start wherever you feel most comfortable beginning and go at your pace. I strive to empower you, as I believe that you are the expert on yourself and my role is to help support you (through means of psychoeducation, teaching different techniques to help you manage/improve, helping you gain awareness/understanding of self, guiding you through healing exercises/experiences and providing a safe space), in meeting your therapy goals. I provide individual therapy (ages 18+), couples therapy, and family therapy (ages 12+). I provide online and in person care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability to grow and improve their lives (no matter how little or how much) and to heal (no matter how long it takes) and therapy can help in this process as human connection is an important factor for many of us. I believe if I can offer a safe therapeutic space, my support and empathy, my experience/training and a trusting therapeutic relationship, that growth/improvement and healing will happen for you. I practice through a cultural framework (yours) as I understand, (as a female Latina myself), that culture can play a big role in our identity and it plays a role in your therapy experience as well. I believe in continuing my education through ongoing trainings in the field of therapy, so I may bring up-to-date knowledge to your therapy experience. I welcome persons of all cultural backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, and religious beliefs.
