About My Clients

I am a queer, Filipina American therapist and author based in Southern California. I provide therapeutic services to individual adults and specialize in working with second-generation Asian American adults and survivors of interpersonal trauma. Common issues I work with include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, and relational and generational traumas.

My Background and Approach

As a queer Filipina survivor, I am no stranger to the stigmas surrounding queer identity, mental health, and trauma. For this reason, it is my utmost goal to create a safe, nurturing environment for my clients to feel accepted and comfortable showing up just as they are. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most powerful mechanism for change and strive to create an environment where you feel wholly accepted as you are and across all your various, intersecting identities. In a typical session, we may work to explore intergenerational trauma and the messages you received as a child through your family, culture, and society in order to understand how they impact you now as an adult. I believe our inner wounded child affects how we show up in our day-to-day lives, relationships, and how we love ourselves; my goal is to help guide you toward healing and loving your inner child, thereby learning to love yourself more.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My clinical interests and published research concern working with Asian American survivors of sexual trauma with a concordant understanding of racialized sexism, particularly given how Asian women are fetishized, hypersexualized, and deemed submissive. I have spoken on various Asian American-led panels and summits to raise awareness and advocacy for this often-overlooked population. I am passionate about integrating cultural awareness and sensitivity with all my clients, particularly how oppressive systems such as racism, sexism, and capitalism impact my clients and their emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
