About My Clients
My clients are thoughtful individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, or ADHD with courage. You might be highly intelligent, yet find your thoughts or executive function challenges working against you, an adult with ADHD wondering why organizing tasks feels impossible, or you're battling self-criticism when you can't meet neurotypical expectations. What unites my clients is their desire to move beyond simply managing symptoms toward building a life aligned with their true values.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic approach recognizes that humans face unique challenges in modern society. Our brains evolved over millions of years for small community living, yet in just the last 150 years, we've shifted to highly specialized environments. This compressed evolution creates a disconnect - our brains haven't had time to adapt to modern society's demands. I work with clients to integrate trauma and build resilience through somatic (body-based) techniques, cognitive approaches, and what I call "tiny promises" - small, achievable commitments that build confidence. We'll focus on sustainable progress rather than dramatic life changes through willpower alone. I see therapy as forming "Team You," where we collaborate to understand your unique needs and experiences. I value authenticity and believe in meeting you where you are, not where society says you should be. Through our work together, you'll discover coping strategies and a renewed sense of purpose and connection to your authentic self.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are living in a uniquely challenging moment in human history. Our brains evolved for small community living, yet modern society demands skills we weren't designed for, leaving many of us struggling to find our footing. Traditional definitions of success, focused on status, wealth, and achievement, create harmful psychological feedback loops. When we fail to meet these arbitrary standards, our brains interpret it as threatening our survival. I believe in redefining success as "the continual and thoughtful effort to close the gap between our present realized self while embracing that our idealized self continually changes." This perspective allows for growth without the crushing weight of perfectionism. I believe in "tiny promises,” small, realistic promises that we can stack to lead to meaningful change. Most importantly, I believe in your capacity to create meaningful change, even when that feels impossible right now.
