About My Clients
I specialize in assisting the healing journeys of People of Color, LGBTQIA folx, those experiencing work-related stress, teens and people with histories and experiences of trauma.
My Background and Approach
I provide strengths-based, healing-centered, culturally responsive and trauma-informed therapy for individuals, families or groups. I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Narrative Therapy, Seeking Safety, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Theatre of the Oppressed, therapeutic art and other brief psychotherapy approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a second-generation Ilokano immigrant, born and raised in Tiipai/southern Kumeyaay territory (south San Diego, CA). I approach therapy as a collaboration, and view mental health treatment with a therapist as similar to going to a doctor or a dentist: sometimes, we need a specially trained person’s assistance to either help us feel better or check-up on us to ensure continued wellness. I incorporate transformative justice, embodied social justice and the healing power of humor into my practice as a trainer, supervisor, and clinician. Outside of work, I enjoy Mother Nature, composting, crafting, martial arts, improvisational comedy and discussing random trivia.
