DBT focuses on developing four central sets of skills. These skill areas are: Mindfulness: How to be present in the moment and observe yourself and the world around you in a nonjudgmental way. Distress tolerance: How to cope with unpleasant situations and emotions in healthy ways. Interpersonal effectiveness: How to interact with other people thoughtfully and resolve conflicts effectively. Emotional regulation: How to identify your emotions as they occur and manage your reactions to them.

Mindfulness practices can include a wide variety of different exercises and activities. Generally, they are intended to help you learn to observe yourself and the world around you in an open, nonjudgmental way. Mindfulness often focuses on increasing calm awareness of your own thoughts, emotions, and experiences in the moment.

the client-centered approach created a new focus in therapy: an emphasis on the importance of the relationship between the client and therapist. This recognition of the effect of the therapeutic relationship on a person’s growth in therapy was influential. Client-centered therapy is one of the most common types of humanistic therapy. This group of therapies is built on the idea that humans are inherently good and have the potential to grow in positive ways.
