About My Clients
Whether you are an adolescent or an adult, one thing rings true for many different people: life can be extremely challenging and tiring. People of color, LGBTQIA+, and neurodiverse individuals have often times been populations with a high level of risk for mental health struggles. Many of these mental health struggles can be internal, but it is also true that systems across the county continually oppress marginalized communities. Working with me will mean looking at yourself from multiple lenses
My Background and Approach
In the last 7 years, I have worked with youth 5-18 at multiple levels of care from residential to IOP (Intensive outpatient program) groups, general community mental health individual sessions, and childhood sexual abuse. I've had the pleasure of working primarily with communities of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I've also had the opportunity to work with young adults transitioning into college and transitioning into adulthood. My approach is client-centered at its core, making sure that I balance active listening, validation, and holding space to also challenge you when appropriate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My belief is that the therapy room is supposed to be a warm, non-judgmental space where you can bring your most authentic self to session. The one who knows themselves best is you, I am merely walking along the path with you while listening to you unravel your difficulties. I also believe that the therapeutic process is both an community order and individual process. While it can be helpful and important to discover the best ways to practice individual self-care, involving community in our healing process can also be a powerful tool as you find the version of yourself that you feel most authentic in.
