About My Clients
My clients often want to better understand their experiences and needs at intersections of complex trauma, neurodiversity, women's / femme-identifying needs, substance use, and/or relationships with self and others. Across and outside these areas, I welcome adults and older teens who believe we're active participants in both the challenges we face and the outcomes we create. My clients often appreciate me as a copilot who honors their lived experience and respects them as expert of their story.
My Background and Approach
Intentionally eclectic and relational in my approach, my foundation is in person-centered and constructivist theories, meaning your priorities and many layers of the human experience are central to our work. I often employ Gestalt, embodied, and somatic methods to synthesize your healing, and occasionally bring in aspects of CBT or DBT to further mobilize your growth. My goal is to partner with you in building upon your insight, empowerment, fulfillment, and practical agency for healing I've worked in a variety of mental health settings over 11 years, adding a background in chemical health (LADC) in 2020; I have my Masters degree in Integrated Behavioral Health and my Bachelors degree in Psychology. Beyond professional qualifications, my lived experiences bring a unique empathy and competence to my areas of focus in particular, helping ensure my clients have someone in their corner who "gets it," while also appreciating the inherent nuance of individual needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I appreciate the role identity placements and lived experiences often play in trauma and healing in therapy spaces. I practice a stance of responsible humility, meaning I work to learn about experiences outside of my own, am no stranger to saying "I don't know," and honor opportunities for others to teach me about their reality or to learn together. While I treat many intersections of complex trauma, I will always have a limited scope in realities outside my own and welcome exploration of the role these play in therapy. When relevant, I seek out and provide my clients with practical, educational, culturally-specific and community-based resources. I personally engage with community-based action and protests, economic divestment, multicultural literature and media, surround myself with other justice-oriented people, and donate to social-justice funds. I stay aware of and use my privilege to empower, advocate for, and protect the people I care for and about.
