About My Clients
My clients are usually on one or more spectrums, rather than fitting neatly into diagnostic labels traditionally seen in mental health paradigms. The clients that appreciate working with me are often Neurodivergent (ASD, ADHD, etc.), LGBTQIA+, and have chronic illnesses: much of which stem from our underlying DNA (and genetic variants). All clients are encouraged to take validated screening tools to further self-exploration and diagnoses.
My Background and Approach
I am dedicated to the identification of neurodivergence (and co-occurring conditions such as EDS, MCAS, POTS, etc.) in adults, especially AFABs. I specialize in differential diagnosis, as many persons with Neurodivergence are misdiagnosed with mental health condidtions such as Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder. Having an atypical brain "architecture" affects how we think, feel and behave, and to cope, many of us create masks of perfection, acheivement and people pleasing and feel isolated with our own needs unmet. Helping people identify and connect with who they actually are, beneath their societal and familial programming, has been demonstrated to be freeing and healing. Accepting and accommodating oneself is foundationational for improved mental well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
*People change and develop across their entire lifespan. We never actually "figure it all out" or "finish" healing and self -actualizing. Challenging beliefs and expectations, like the above, is one way to feel better. *No one can take better care of us than us, once we know ourselves. Accepting that life (and the social, economic, climate realities) creates distress, and learning how to manage that distress, until it passes, is life-affirming. My job is to help you take the best care of you. My approach is validating, supportive, and educational. I hope to work with you soon.
