About My Clients

Life is stressful! Relationships, work, oppressive systems, exploring sexual and gender identities...these are some of issues that bring clients and me together. In each of these situations, we creatively sift through a variety of emotions and pulls, and the anxiety and depressed feelings that often emerge. In our relationship, we'll work to expand patterns of thoughts, behaviors, and feelings and explore new solutions to reach your goals.

My Background and Approach

I am trained as a counseling psychologist. My first goal in our work together is to get to know you so that I understand how the issue that's bringing you in has come up in your life and how it's impacting your well-being, relationships, and day-to-day life. My primary therapeutic approach is Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), an approach in which we work on addressing emotional and relational barriers that often show up as anxiety, unsatisfying relationships, feeling disconnected, or unhelpful patterns of emotion. I enjoy working on issues related to attachment and family of origin. I often work with men who feel emotionally disconnected, LGBTQIA+ people, as well as artists and creative people. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Repressing (EMDR) therapy for clients who have experienced a range of traumatic experiences. I am a Pennsylvania licensed psychologist who is authorized by PSYPACT to practice interjurisdictional tele psychology.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As an LGTBQ community member, I've hit some bumps along the road. And in trying to find my way, I've learned so much about how my path has been shaped in part by my own hard work, partially by work in therapy, and partially by systemic issues that are not entirely in my control. Along my journey, I've found that everyone has a story that's worth sharing with someone else. My approach in therapy does assume that large social systems, along with family, community, and social experiences, influence people's development. My understanding of people and of the world is also informed by a longstanding meditation practice.
