About My Clients
I help adult clients explore a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, PTSD and substance use disorders. I also have extensive experience working with individuals coping with illness, trauma from medical treatment and violent injury.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in working collaboratively with adults to address trauma and major life changes. I integrate over ten years practice as a medical social worker, therapist and community health advocate. I have experience with several approaches to healing including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions. For folks interested in exploring spiritual themes, I incorporate holistic methods including existential and transpersonal therapy. I have a certificate in health ministry. I am Queer-competent and familiar with affirmative therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal and professional values are well-being, justice, relationships, safety and self-determination. I use the holistic psychotherapy approach to explore the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. “Holistic” focuses not only on “mental illness”, but also what makes you *well*. I believe that the mind, body and spirit are all connected and all powerful tools for recovery. I often speak with clients about mindfulness practices (e.g., breathing exercises and meditation) that can be used to manage stress, understand their trauma responses and discover paths to wellness.
