About My Clients
Sometimes clients want to work through relationship issues or simply want to learn new coping skills to gain balance in their lives. Others have deep childhood trauma that affects their ability to cope with life's realities without the use of addictive processes and substances. My clients range from those desperately seeking an understanding of underlying negative core beliefs that drive destructive behaviors to those that want enrichment in their lives.
My Background and Approach
My background encompasses work in trauma-based approaches. I am fully trained in EDMR therapy (EMDR CERTIFIED THERAPIST) and integrate attachment theory along with DBT and CBT techniques. I am a CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) and have worked extensively with individuals struggling with sex addictions as well as substance abuse issues. Other specialties include Anxiety (Panic, Phobias, OCD), Coping with Grief & Loss, Couples Issues, Depression & Stress, and Problems with Relationships & Intimacy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that counseling is an opportunity for a counselor to come alongside someone in their journey. I offer my clients compassion and a safe space to express themselves, providing unconditional positive regard throughout their journey of discovery and empowerment. My counseling style is eclectic because I firmly believe that not all interventions and approaches are effective with every client. Counseling should be a personalized experience, so I choose to draw from whichever approach is best suited to my client and their needs. I am humbled by the opportunity to help my clients through whatever storms they may be experiencing. I view the therapeutic alliance between a counselor and a client to be similar to that of a team in which a goal is set and we then work together using our joint strengths to achieve that goal.
