About My Clients
I have worked with people struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, self-esteem, and PTSD. I have stuggled with some of these myself. I work primarily with Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) individuals and couplse navigating LGBTQ+, polyamorous , and BDSM lifestyles. There is no right or wrong way to be a human being and I believe happiness comes from authenticity.
My Background and Approach
When you walk through the door, you will find someone willing to listen and collaborate with you to create the changes that you want to make. You will find a place where you can be your authentic self and understand your stories and experiences, create stronger relationships, and find meaning. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach. Therapy is not about changing who you are, but finding strength and resiliency through being your authentic self. I use an integrative approach consisting of attachment, person-centered, and trauma-informed techniques. I have experience with person-centered therapy, relational therapy, mindfulness techniques, and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe "normal" is different for everyone. Finding our personal version of normal and living an authentic life is essential to being happy. I am a survivor of developmental and complex trauma that came from physical, verbal, and emotional abuse in childhood and adulthood. I spent many years of my life trying to be who I was "supposed to be" according to others. Processing my experiences in therapy has given me a passion to help others live according to their own values, not someone else's, and live more fulfilling lives. I believe that everyone possesses the strength to overcome the obstacles in their life. As human beings, our minds and bodies naturally move toward healing. I am direct and will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone, but my main goal is for us to build a relationship where you feel safe to explore, accepted as you are, and capable of addressing life’s challenges.
