About My Clients

Many of the clients I work with have struggled with the pressures of performing in a society that often places roadblocks in their path, shortchanges them, or ignores them altogether. I work best with clients who come into the space with a curious mindset and a willing spirit to discover, explore, and grow. My clients value self-development and want to explore insights about themselves. They reflect openly and ongoingly about who they are, what they want, and where they want to be.

My Background and Approach

I am systematically trained, which highlights the impact of various factors on your well-being and your relationships. I pull from humanistic, narrative, socio-cultural, positive psychology, and strength-based modalities. Together, we will explore social, familial, and personal themes and values. I help clients identify change factors, develop new perspectives, and take action to create the life they want to lead. Common themes and topics explored in my work include intergenerational impact, sociocultural pressures, superwoman complex, boundary formation and maintenance, disentangling from codependent and enmeshed relationship dynamics, personal agendas for change, development of a solid sense of self, life transitions, anxiety, and non-death grief. I work collaboratively with you. You take the lead during the process. Together, we will create a plan based on your articulated goals. You are the leader of your life and I am a supportive player on your team.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I work with many people and concerns. Yet, my practice focuses on assisting those whose issues and existence are often excluded from the dominant narrative, particularly Black women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and those in CNM and/or intercultural relationships. Due to institutional barriers, societal expectations, and cultural pressures, the intersectionality of being a woman and a person of color can lead to decreased prioritization of self and lower chances of carving out time for therapy. I believe that virtual therapy increases accessibility for those seeking support and have limited time. I believe in: - Prioritizing mental health and the power of connections and relationships - Destigmatizing mental health in Black communities - The importance of allied LGBTQIA+ mental health and care - Establishing boundaries as a way to elevate life satisfaction - The qualities and capabilities you possess that will help you attain your goals
