About My Clients
My clients are individuals or couples ages twelve and up, seeking support and connection surrounding various life phases and transitions. Typically, those seeking my services are interested in a depth approach that explores what is not visible- nonverbal communication, dreams, trauma history, relationships, childhood, and more. Clients I support vary widely but often have some of the following needs: support around ASD, DV situations, miscommunication/lack of intimacy in partnership, grief/loss.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington, and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland. I completed my Master's of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA due to my desire to focus on psychodynamic and Jungian studies. I bring a primarily narrative, family systems, and Jungian approach to my work, meaning that I attempt to explore the ways in which our shadow presents itself for better and worse in our day-to-day lives. This could mean exploring dreams, interpersonal interactions, family-of-origin roles, psychosomatic illness, and more. I wrote my thesis on the topic of descent into the symbolic Underworld and how trust in the Unknown and vulnerability through relationships of all sorts fosters healing and consciousness. I continue to integrate this perspective into my work with clients as they navigate their evolving identity and relationships with their unique individuation path.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am particularly passionate about and inspired by the intersection of psychology and spirituality. This combination could include exploring theologies one has been raised with, as well as new considerations in relation to belief systems. I feel as though our spiritual beliefs and practices appear in therapy when black-and-white thinking or perfectionism arise. I also hold my work with ASD/PDA clients or parents of individuals who are on the spectrum and PDA very highly, due to my own work both professionally and as a mother with the societal imbalances between neurotypical and neurodivergent ways of being. I aim to better support clients in these areas to process moments of grief, isolation, trauma, and lack of understanding.
