About My Clients
Are you having difficulty with an interpersonal relationship? Does it feel like you're often misunderstood or that you have a hard time regulating your emotions? Does your brain tell you stories that aren't always helpful? These things are really difficult to navigate without help. I aim to teach skills on how to be more effective in daily life, in relationships with others, and with your relationship with yourself.
My Background and Approach
Regrettably, we are not born with knowledge of how to regulate our emotions, communicate effectively, or acknowledge when our brain is playing tricks on us. I genuinely enjoy getting to know someone's story, helping them connect the dots of how they came to be the person they I place an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship with a non-judgmental and empathetic environment. I typically utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IT) to help create awareness into cognitive and behavioral patterns, address a person’s beliefs and values, and explore alternative skills to improve quality of life and decrease any symptoms or challenges. I focus on striking a balance between providing support and validation with feedback on ineffective behavior and skills to be more effective.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is doing the best that they can and that engaging in therapy is a huge first step to increasing self-efficacy and control in your life. While we can't control the cards that we are dealt, we can have a say in how we play those cards. I am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and actively seek out opportunities and resources to provide affirming care. Additionally, I seek to provide culturally sensitive care and often lead with curiosity to learn more about someone's individual experience of their culture. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my pomeranian. Her name is Shoelaces but her friends call her Lacey. We regularly enjoy the outdoors together and love an outside dining experience!
