About My Clients
In a perfect world, we would all be assigned a therapist at birth, just as we are a pediatrician. Mental health is health, after all. I have a passion for working with adolescents and young adults (Millenials and Gen-Zers). My professional experience in wilderness therapy also drives my interest in working with outdoor enthusiasts who have a history of trauma or other mental health concerns. I also specialize in disordered eating, body image concerns, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
My Background and Approach
I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2020 and have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I have specialized training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (a sister approach to EMDR) for trauma treatment. I also incorporate mindfulness-based interventions, self-compassion tools, and somatic-based approaches. If you visit me in office, you have the chance to meet my therapy dog, Java, who is always ready for a chat and snuggle. I'm adamant about using a feminist multicultural framework in my clinical work. My therapeutic style also includes a healthy dose of humor and laughter. I believe clients should feel heard, understood, valued, believed, and challenged during the therapy process! Therapy is difficult work and I'm here to support you every step of the way, but the healing you are seeking will be found within yourself. :)
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work from the perspective that you are not broken. You are responding in deeply human ways to a society that often fails to meet our needs for safety, belonging, and authenticity. In other words: we are not sick—society is sick. This approach centers your lived experience and honors your intersecting identities, whether related to race, gender, sexuality, class, disability, or culture. I believe therapy is political and my training as a social worker views dismantling systems of oppression as necessary to treat mental illness. Therapy becomes a space to name what’s real, reclaim your voice, and imagine new ways of being that are aligned with your values—not just society’s expectations. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and regularly find myself on the other side of the couch, as a client of therapy myself.
