About My Clients

You have no idea what to do, it’s like a flip switched in your child’s head. The school is mentioning something about behaviors but you don’t know what that means. Sometimes it is like you have a totally different child or they aren’t even there. All of a sudden they are struggling with academics, peer relationships, and have these really intense emotions. You’re worried about them and sometimes even scared. You’re blaming yourself and starting to lose hope.

My Background and Approach

You remember that sweet, goofy, smart, talented, loving child that you had. You just want the days back where they smiled and talked to you, the days where they would get angry but but could calm themselves down. You want to make it through an entire week without a phone call from the school. You want to stop feeling crazy and be confident in your parenting skills. You both really want to be understood. I genuinely believe you and your child already have the answers and all you need within yourself. I am simply going to help you both tap into that power. The breakdown you’re having right now is an opportunity to build yourself up even better than you were. I will encourage self expression, exploration and authenticity in therapy. Meaning this is YOUR space that I am just happy to be apart of. I offer after school evening hours to make things easier for you and ensure that you can get here. I work with children, teens, and adults. Together we will get you where YOU want and need to be.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Reducing the stigma around mental health in the Black community is a cause of great importance to me. It is crucial that people of color feel supported, respected, understood, and safe when they want help. Mental health and seeking treatment for mental health should not be shameful and embarrassing, instead it should be an empowering experience because you are doing what is best for you. You are taking control of your life , your body and your overall well-being. I recognize coming to therapy as a strength that should be celebrated and will be with all of my clients. I believe your life and your story are important. I am open to people of all races, ages, religions walks of life and the LGBTQ community. As I mentioned this is a space for you to feel comfortable, listened to and respected and with me that is exactly what you are going to get.
