About My Clients
Are you struggling to bounce back after a big life event, and feeling stuck, burnt out, and isolated? Maybe you've been living with the shame, anxiety, or depression that can come from perfectionism, trauma, grief, addiction, relationship difficulties, or chronic health conditions. Maybe it's your first time in therapy. I get it: something has happened, and we've realized we need help. I'm here to support you in reconnecting with yourself and relearning your truth along the way to healing.
How I Can Help You
When working with me, you can expect to experience a warm, nonjudgmental and authentic approach using methods that are safe and backed by scientific research. The theories I use recognize the complex interconnectedness of our world: humanistic and systems theories, integrative and holistic approaches, intersectional feminism, and queer theory. I am fascinated by how our minds and bodies work, and most of all, how we heal and understand ourselves. In our work together, I will welcome you to "drop the mask," and fully be you. I'll strive to accommodate disability or sensory requests you may have, and encourage you to be your own strongest, bravest advocate in life. I will also provide you with insider information about your brain and nervous system that illuminates understanding, and lessens feelings of shame or self-judgment around our behaviors and habits. I will gently prompt you to reflect and introspect, be curious and laugh, and model fierce compassion all the way. Let's attune!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Some extras about me: I am a social worker, first and foremost. As such, I do not consider myself to be an apolitical therapist nor human; in fact I don't believe a clinician can provide quality, client-centered care with integrity otherwise. I do not believe that any human alive today can truly operate outside the system of oppression that has been built and come to be known as "healthcare," and "norms of society." Within this, there are advantages and disadvantages that every human is born with and without, over which we have no control. Unfortunately this means for many of us that are different, who fall outside the "norm," we are dismissed, ignored, or forgotten by the system meant to support us. That's me too, and I see you.
