About My Clients
Most of my experience centers around LGBTQ+ individuals who are gender expansive. Some of the work that I’ve done with these groups is centered around relationships, sex, religion, and trauma. I've worked with Equitas Healthcare in Cincinnati and Dayton. In my experience with Equitas, I co-facilitated Trans support groups, Substance Use support groups, healthy relationships educational sessions, and court-mandated intimate partner violence groups.
My Background and Approach
I believe that the relationship between therapist and counselor is one of the best tools for supporting change and making progress. The relational dynamic should be interactive, relying on the expertise that both the client and therapist will bring to the relationship. I take a client-centered approach to therapy, and rely on theoretical frameworks and techniques found in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each interaction is a chance for connection, and each connection is a chance to learn more about how people experience the world. Through these connections, we become more aware of ourselves and more connected with our community. I can also recognize that sometimes making these connections can be difficult. Some communities have more support and resources than others. It's the goal of these same community members to continue their representation for the generations following and leave a legacy to be proud of. Through creating a handle for the next generation to grab and a helping hand to pull those who follow further up. Through addressing our own anxieties and working to better ourselves, we can ensure a healthier community for everyone.
