About My Clients
I currently see and work with a wide array of Adult Clients (18+) that have different mental health, substance use and wellness needs. The clients that I have worked with, expressed that they do not want to be in therapy forever. So we build the therapeutic relationship together to come up with a treatment plan together that will help clients show progress towards their ideal lives.
My Background and Approach
I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish. I also graduated with my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis and certificate in Crisis and Trauma work. Based off my training I learned to take an eclectic approach. I pull from multiple theories to mold the best therapy style that fits the individual client during that time that I see them. The main therapy style I utilize is Trauma focused CBT and Solution Focused CBT. With the Trauma focused CBT, I work to help clients process through and heal from their trauma. If the client hits any barriers in their healing, I utilize CBT to help the client challenge those thought processes to overcome those barriers to continue on their journey of healing. It's the same with Solution focused CBT, but I help clients challenge the barriers in their mind with implementing solutions to their situations.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal belief is that client's do not want to remain in therapy forever. As a clinician, I am always doing my best to work myself out of a job. What clients and I do is build autonomy to the point where client's don't need me anymore. I also believe that anything can be considered a crisis or trauma no matter how big or small. What I do is provide a safe judgement free space for clients to truly express what they are going through and obtain the appropriate help for that. I also believe that everyone truly wants to get help and get better despite their actions. What I do is work with the client at their own pace to help them get to where they want to. I don't rush them, because that could disrupt the therapeutic process and cause the client to shut down. Here we take as much time as the client needs, until they are able to make it where they want to with their mental health.
