About My Clients
Many of my clients feel like outsiders because of their sexuality, gender identity, relationship structure, or the expectations they grew up with. Some were taught to hide their emotions or “tough it out.” Others feel stuck in conflict, disconnected in relationships, or uncertain of who they are beyond others’ standards. They’re looking for clarity, connection, and a safe place to feel fully seen.
My Background and Approach
I grew up in rural West Texas in a farming and ranching family, and as a gay man, I know what it’s like to feel out of step with the roles, politics, and religious expectations of small-town life. Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a teacher, athletic trainer, and in the tech industry. Each of those chapters shaped the way I listen and connect with people from many walks of life. Now, as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I specialize in men’s emotional health, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, trauma healing, relationship challenges (including ethical non-monogamy), and the impact of religion, whether that means healing from painful teachings or integrating faith in a meaningful way. My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed. I see you as the expert on your own life, and I bring empathy, curiosity, and honesty into our work. Together, we’ll explore your past, make sense of the present, and help you live more authentically moving forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy should be a place where people don’t have to hide or explain away who they are. As a gay man, I know how powerful it is to find spaces that feel safe, affirming, and real. I support LGBTQIA+ equality, body positivity, and sex-positive values, including ethical non-monogamy and kink-affirming practices. I also believe in holding complexity with compassion. For many people, faith has been both a source of comfort and a source of pain. I honor both experiences, helping clients make sense of how religion shaped them while creating space for their current beliefs and values. Outside of work, I care deeply about mental health access in rural communities and supporting men in finding healthier, more open ways of relating. I’m passionate about making therapy accessible, authentic, and affirming for anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t quite belong.
