Relationship therapy with me entails a deep dive into what emerges in our stuck places in intimate relationships. Rather than try to transcend any conflict or trigger in relationships, I am more interested in exploring what happens for you in those tough places than trying to escape difficulty. By exploring what happens in our triggers we get a unique opportunity to heal these tender places and come to a place of wholeness in relationships.

Therapy is a space for you to explore more about your inner and outer life. By exploring with a non-judgmental presence in the room, you are able to see your experience with new context and from new perspectives. By expanding your view of your life, you can see new possibilities, lay old hurts to rest, and envision your future for yourself.

In addiction counseling we will take an honest and objective view of the substances or behaviors that are taking control of your life. We will assess and explore the extent of the current use and come up with a plan to either cut down or to stop completely depending on your treatment goals and on realistic expectations when dealing with powerful substances. I work from both a harm reduction perspective as well as an abstinence based perspective with my addictions work.

Working together on a level playing field, we will locate and identify your internal wisdom and the organic intelligence hidden in your body and your psyche. I believe that each of us has a hidden guide, or “breadcrumb trail” which we can follow into the forest of the unconscious. Much of our therapy process together will consist of us finding this internal, intuitive guide and discovering where you want to go next in your life.

I use an integrative approach with couples therapy, pulling mainly from Attachment and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) lenses. What this looks like is that we will: 1. Identify the pattern you and your partner keep getting stuck in. 2. Uncover the underlying root emotions that are leading to these conflicts. 3. Find new ways to engage with these emotions so you and your partner don’t get stuck in the same old patterns.
