I like that I can provide therapy to those who would generally not seek help because of cultural conditioning, stigma, tradition, or limited access. When a therapist understands the cultural language it empowers. I treat persons who have experienced trauma in their past. The goal is to put to rest those things that would dare define you. You are not your past. Free yourself!
My Background and Approach
Residue from the past can delay healing. Traumatic experiences from yesterday can interfere with your today. I understand, but I will challenge you to push towards that open door of healing. The past is but a reference point, not a destination. It is your time to live without guilt, shame, anger or blame. I have extensive training in trauma and instruct teachers on how to identify trauma in the classroom. I facilitated trauma groups for adult female inmates in a prison setting, and youthful offenders in a juvenile program. This is my passion, to elevate and prompt one to look forward, not back, unless it's to kick it up another notch! You have been waiting for you for a long time. Come on in.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
There's a wall hanging in my office that reads, "Speak Your Truth." I encourage persons to speak their own truth, not what they have been conditioned to speak, but to be their authentic self. There is only one you and the world needs that version. I believe that anyone who crosses my path is in Divine order. My responsibility is to leave you better than when we met. I will challenge you and encourage you. I'm so glad you're here!
