About My Clients
Do you have difficulty navigating stressful situations? Do you ever behave differently when feeling overwhelmed? As a clinical therapist, my goal is to foster a healthy collaboration and support you in making the changes you want to see. My style of therapy uses empathic and active listening to observe behavioral patterns, discuss your values, and implement interventions following a goal-oriented framework.
My Background and Approach
I received a BS in Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology, MS in Performance Psychology from the University of Stirling (Scotland), and MSW from Chicago State University. I have completed internships at the University of Chicago, Golder college prep, and Chicago State University. I believe my academic and mental health background allows me to effectively work with a wide array of populations. I predominantly use CBT, ACT, strength-based, and motivational interviewing approaches and am always looking to learn and expand my therapeutic toolkit. I specialize in working with issues surrounding burnout and stress, and have a passion for working with athletes, college students, and young adults 18-30 given my background as an athlete and academic.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Being a Chicago native, attending a predominantly black institution, and having interned/worked at predominantly low-income communities, I am well-aware of the importance that social justice and advocacy have both on a societal and individual level. Thus, I remain committed to lifelong improvement in both mental health practice and cultural sensitivity. On a personal note, I tend towards more Eastern philosophy and have the utmost respect for approaching life with love, gratitude, and balance.
