About My Clients

Trauma looks different for everyone. Sometimes it is marked by a life changing event like an accident, loss, or violence. Sometimes trauma accumulates over time. Many of my clients grew up in a chaotic or abusive household. Some lived with a family member who had mood swings or struggled with addiction. Often my clients have family members that don't accept them for who they are or how they identify. Many face routine discrimination based on their race, gender identity or sexual orientation.

My Background and Approach

Trauma work is hard work but can be incredibly rewarding. I take a collaborative approach with clients. You are the one steering the ship. This means you set the goals and the pace. Diving into past memories and experiences can feel risky. My job is to create space to do this safely and effectively with evidenced-based treatment. I am trained in several evidenced-based modalities including EMDR, CBT and Trauma-Informed Care. I have worked in a variety of settings including nonprofit, homeless services, psychiatric hospitals, schools, and medical hospitals. I encountered trauma survivors in all of these settings and have learned a great deal about the human spirit and our capacity for resilience. Healing is always possible!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have experience working with individuals from many different backgrounds and strive to stay curious about different cultures and identities. I welcome discussion around the impact of racial trauma, social justice issues and other inequities. I am a social worker at my core and feel passionate about providing quality service to underserved and under-resourced populations. I have spent the last 7 years of my career working with unhoused people in Los Angeles County. I enjoy teaching and routinely facilitate trainings in Trauma-Informed Care. I have trained homeless service providers, police officers, nonprofit organizations and clinicians. I enjoy spending time outside and like to stay active with exercise. My other favorite past time is going out to eat with friends or family. I love trying new food and new restaurants! I have a Great-Dane/German Shepard rescue who is the light of my life.
