My Background and Approach
Colleen is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and Certified Trauma Professional (CPT) who uses a strengths-based approach to help individuals overcome mental health challenges, strengthen their support systems, and achieve personal goals. With a background in school counseling and personal experience as a queer, neurodivergent woman from the southern U.S., Colleen’s approach is informed by her personal journey. She fosters a non-judgmental space where clients can explore their identity and experiences. Colleen incorporates therapeutic tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), among others, to tailor her approach to each client’s needs. She believes therapy is a collaborative, client-centered process built on authenticity, humor, and empathy. Colleen is committed to empowering clients by highlighting their existing strengths and helping them develop skills for meaningful change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe true healing involves examining the societal systems that shape our beliefs and behaviors. I am committed to confronting my own biases, whether rooted in race, gender, or other oppressive structures. I prioritize creating a space where you feel truly seen and heard, and I take your safety and trust seriously. While I bring empathy, humor, and authenticity into sessions, I never lose sight of the importance of fostering that trust. I work with individuals who have felt misunderstood or marginalized, especially adult children of emotionally immature parents, neurodivergent folks navigating ableist systems, and those in the 2S-LGBTQIA+ community. My practice is rooted in cultural humility, social justice, and anti-racism, and I strive to help clients unlearn unhealthy behaviors to embrace growth. I’d be honored to support you in your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
