About My Clients
I enjoy working with overwhelmed people with the purpose of learning how to handle anxiety, depression and adjustment to change by providing a safe place to explore the things that feed the overwhelmingness.
My Background and Approach
Clients often come into session feeling overwhelmed, tapped out, low energy, emotional, alone or even hopeless. Over time sessions will start to find a rhythm. As we close out the treatment it is important to know what skills we will be trying to work on until the next session. Clients often feel some sense of relief by the end of the session or simply curiosity towards their difficulties. I hope that no matter who you work with that your session fits you as an individual. I incorporate techniques from many different counseling theories including but not limited to person centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Focusing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It could be a subtle shift or a big life event that has you looking for a safe place to work through something. We are not born with instructions on how to regulate our bodies. Instead we are often taught to push things away, to just keep moving, or to use our bootstraps. Figuring out how to regulate the connection between mind, body and emotions is difficult work to do at the best of times. Often as humans we are not ready for change until we are uncomfortable and pushed to our limit. Then when things are not good again within a day or two we start spiraling into shame, guilt, depression, failure, anxiety, fear…ect. As the world continues around us we feel disconnected from everything and everyone in it. I want you to know why this process makes sense to the body. With work and understanding you can learn to move through these processes and even shorten them. Coming to therapy can be a gift to yourself and everyone around you.
