About My Clients
Are you tired of seeing regular therapists and being frustrated and they’re only sort of helping? Have you been listening to podcasts, tried eating better, exercising, and you know there are lifestyle changes you can make, but you don’t know where to start? Do you suffer from depression, anxiety, stress, sleep problems, or ADHD and you want something that will help that’s not medication? mental illness is, essentially, a metabolic disorder of the brain which can be supported with nutrition.
My Background and Approach
Most therapists are ill-equipped to address the biochemical side of mental illness. Conventional psychotherapy approaches do help improve metabolic health of the brain, but only on the psychological side. This one-sided approach isn’t very sustainable. The truth is that the body systems never operate independently of each other. Conventional therapy treats mental health, as if it’s separate from physical health. This perspective stems from conventional medicine, which has the same approach. This hyperfocus on specialization keeps practitioners from considering other contributing factors to illness. As a holistic nutritional psychotherapist, I am trained to look at these other factors. While I am not a physician, it is important to me to also consider physical health as well as spiritual and mental health together. I aim to treat the whole person rather than just a single system or symptom. Because this is the way nature intended; our bodies are part of, and interdependent with, nature.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My nutritional approach is generally omnivorous and low-carb but I’m willing to work with vegetarians and those who want to follow carnivore, as long as we can do it in a healthy way. My training and interest lies in ancestral wisdom, particularly from the work of Dr. Weston A. Price. I am a certified yoga teacher and operate from somewhat of an eastern perspective, as well as a Christian perspective as I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. Despite my personal beliefs. I’ve had many clients from other backgrounds who have been happy with the therapy I provide. I strive to support you in your own beliefs and values so long as they promote health.
