About My Clients
These past few years have been extremely challenging and coping has been hard. If you find yourself feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and emotionally ill equipped, you are not alone. If you feel like you've tried everything and nothing works, I see you. The idea that we should be able to simply pick ourselves up and brush ourselves off is wrong. In fact, the idea that seeking help is a weakness is wrong. I hope that the fact that you're here means you're ready for something different.
My Background and Approach
Utilizing a client centered approach (meaning I like to get to know you at your pace) I work with women and teens who feel like they haven't been seen, heard or valued by doing just that, seeing you, hearing you and valuing you. The tools I use are integrative with IFS, mindfulness, EMDR and trauma informed techniques at the heart of what I do. I am a brain geek, so in my spare time I'm often pouring over the latest research on our brain body connection and using my expertise and personal experience in interpersonal neurobiology as well as my years of training in body based wellness to help myself and my clients develop a better understanding of why we do the things we do. I love art, so we'll paint. I love games so I've been known to use card games and board games in therapy. I love learning about sandtray and will often sit down with my clients as they construct their world in the sand. I am an unapologetic fierce proponent of radical self acceptance, love and compassion!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every single living being is here for a reason and important to the fabric of this world. The uniqueness and diversity can only prove to make this place abundantly beautiful. I’ve lived a plant based life for many years, have been personally affected by addiction and suicide and have vowed to learn all I can to propel love, empathy and compassion in my life on the daily. I love to laugh, have never met a hand puppet I didn't immediately want to hang out with, and pride myself on learning more about myself each day. I'm married to my best friend, rarely pass up the opportunity to march for equality, and ride my very old hand me down bicycle to farmers markets any chance I get.
