My Background and Approach
Why eclectic therapy? As individuals, our emotional, behavioral, and psycho-social needs are completely different. This approach draws from multiple theoretical orientations to fit the specific needs of every individual whose needs may not be resolved (or addressed) using only one approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My role as the therapist is not as "The expert" or "The fixer." I assist with facilitating the client's therapeutic goals while empowering the client to be the leader. I utilize a solution-focused approach within therapy to assist with identifying problems, developing plans, and creating paths on how to obtain the goals identified by the client. The expert regarding my client's life is the client. I help my client understand that they are not the problem and that the problem is the problem. From my experiences and exposures, my clients assigned themselves the title "failure" or "failed". The challenge with this thought process is that "failure" or "failed" is an EVENT or an incident. Event is the root word "eventually". I help my clients change their thought processes to "eventually.... I will......"
