About My Clients

Pregnancy and postpartum comes with a lot of emotions and a lot of questions. Women are told it is the best thing that will ever happen to them and that it will all come so "naturally." But on the inside you may be asking yourself "what the heck is happening to me?" "Is this normal" "Why did no one tell me this could happen?" If you are pregnant, postpartum, or somewhere in between and find yourself asking similar questions or feeling lost, you are not alone.

My Background and Approach

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in Colorado with a focus in perinatal mental health. My approach begins with the idea that motherhood is deeply misunderstood. The transition is one of life's most intense shifts emotionally, physically, physiologically, relationally, and identity. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. I base my approaches on the person in front of me. I used frameworks including EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to support your brain to process the hard stuff that is stuck. I use ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) to shift your relationship with your symptoms and move towards the life you want to live. I also use IFS (internal family systems) to bring curiosity to your inner "parts" to gain understanding into why your system responds to the world in the way that it does. You can show up dressed up or in sweatpants, eat snacks, laugh, swear, and cry - sometimes all at once. I take the work seriously but not ourselves.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe motherhood is deeply misunderstood. I believe expectations on mothers are too high and unreachable. I believe you already have everything inside of you to achieve what you want in life. I believe the systems set in place are the main component of mental health. I believe therapy is political. Because of this, I make sure I am active on having the hard conversations in my community, attending protests, and voting in a way that supports all people. I believe everyone deserves a place in the world and deserves care just as they are. I believe bagels are the best food to exist. I believe music heals and connects communities and that cereal is magical when you're pregnant (if you know, you know). If you are interested in learning more, I would love to connect further!
