About My Clients
Clients typically approach me when they have experienced trauma (single incident or complex, recent or past) or are experiencing concerns related to the perinatal time period. This includes anxiety, depression, miscarriage, birth trauma, infertility, guilt, and overwhelm. Many of my clients also come to me with sexual issues such as trauma, abuse, pain, excessive shame, and infidelity.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to equip you with tools for symptom relief in addition to exploring the deeper roots of the pain you are experiencing. I value collaboration with my clients and expect my clients to provide feedback when they do or do not like an approach I have taken. In addition, I tend to be direct in my exploration and observations. This allows us to press deeper and get curious about what’s going on below the surface. I also like to incorporate the mind/body connection so that clients can understand the physical or scientific perspective. Education is such a key piece of trauma recovery so that you can understand more about why you can’t just “get over it.” Furthermore, we will explore your family system because our families play a key role in understanding why we are the way that we are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that it is never too late to change your life. You have power and a choice to change. Even doing nothing is a choice! I believe we are doing the best we can with the tools we know and experiences we have had. Sometimes, we need additional help to rewire our brains to learn a new way of life. I wholeheartedly believe in the healing power of therapy and have experienced it myself. Therapy can be an extremely powerful tool if you let it. I also identify as Christian. I can incorporate faith into counseling upon a client's request; however, I work with clients from a variety of belief systems and only include clients' spiritual or religious beliefs when requested and appropriate.
