About My Clients

Do you experience life as getting in the way of having and creating the life you want? I get it. The demands of life can feel overwhelming. But maybe you've discovered that the normal inclination to resolve them through thinking or sheer determination tend to perpetuate the stress, anxiety, shame or frustration that you want to reduce. I will help you find the resources and wisdom present in your body to address these challenges and feelings, and towards creating the life you want to live in

My Background and Approach

I specialize in Somatic Psychotherapy and pull from a number of somatic and other psychotherapeutic approaches. A theme running through all of them is the importance of experiencing one's whole self as a means for healing and growth. I work collaboratively with clients to create safety that allows experiences of self to emerge, integrating the wisdom of body and mind. You will use resources that you already possess, and I will help you learn and develop new tools for doing so. This requires practice, but the impact can be life-changing, and I provide exercises and considerations during the week to support this.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that the experiences in our lives affect us less than the meanings we assign to them, and that discovering a more useful meaning for one's past makes it easier to take a more useful action in the present. Easier said than done, however. It is hard to know what meanings or “stories” currently shape our lives for the very fact that we are LIVED BY them, as much as we are living them. Bringing greater awareness to narratives that no longer serve us is vital, but their hold can be extremely tenacious as they have very likely served an essential function in our past. I believe that one of the most powerful ways therapy serves is by bringing awareness to the semi-conscious stories driving us, but that it needs to go further for real change to occur. The stories that shape our life, shape our body; through the body (that IS our unconscious mind) we come back to our self and the chance to author our lives with greater authenticity, meaning and joy.
