About My Clients
Women historically maintain an emotionally heavy “workload” in relationships. Talk about an overwhelming responsibility! I’ve been there! Sometimes this causes us to be numb, shut down, or begin living life on auto-pilot. I help women discover balance and develop bravery to explore their authentic selves. You deserve to feel more confident as a parent, partner, daughter, sibling, coworker, and community member.
My Background and Approach
Together, we'll work to identify strengths and do more of what works. Choice is important in my practice and a brain/body approach to healing is achieved through a combination of interventions. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my approach is systemic and does not pathologize. We are all influenced by the actions or non-actions of those around us. That gets even more complicated by unique life experiences or attachment patterns which further influence views/ behavior. The best results in therapy are achieved when all members of a family or relationship can experience the therapeutic process together. This allows space to practice positive communication and develop increased understanding of interactional patterns. Understandably, this is not always possible. Investing your time to engage individually is a good start to increase understanding and begin the healing process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we already have the answers that we need inside of us; we may just need a bit of help to flush them out. Every new breath that we take is an opportunity to alter the choices that we make and change our experiences. Some choices are good, some don't work out so well. One thing to keep in mind is that there are no failures in life, just plenty of learning experiences. I care about health care access, animal welfare, our impact on the planet, and human rights. My community involvement includes food ministry volunteer work, fostering larger dogs for a local rescue, supporting local women's shelters, and supporting the Humane Society.
