About My Clients
I specialize in working with 3- 8 year old's, individuals 21+ and adult children concerned about an aging parent. As a Play therapist and Social worker with 15 years of experience, I offer my clients who live in NJ or NY, a space where they can feel safe to open up about their inner thoughts, build courage to face their fears and learn how to let go of things like anxiety, anger and anything else that is no longer serving their mental and Spiritual well-being.
My Background and Approach
I have been a social worker for 18 years and in private practice for 15 years. My approach to working with children and families is to be curious, compassionate, educational and non-judgmental. I am committed to offering my clients a place to feel safe, heard and validated regardless of where they come from. Through the utilization of tools aligned with cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy and Theraplay®, I help children and families build a stronger understanding of how to manage challenging behaviors as well as how to feel closer and more connected.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Puerto Rican female who grew up in Brooklyn/Queens, NY I understand the hardships many parents are experiencing when they are trying to switch up parenting styles from what they witnessed to what they want to be. This can be a hard process and often triggering one which undoubtedly causes confusion and parent guilt. Becoming a parent myself has definitely highlighted the struggles and hardships parents have when it comes to trying to raise your child different from how you were raised. This especially becomes tricky when you start to realize you are doing the things you swore you wouldn't. Or, when you feel like you are at a lost at being able to help your own child. The work I do with children and parents is designed to help everyone feel safe, heard and validated. This, ultimately can lead to parents feeling in control, kids feeling like kids again and the family being able to enjoy time with each other.
