About My Clients

My clients express frustration with relationships and a need for guidance at a difficult time. We are- many of us- working to heal from family conflict and to recover from disordered eating, insufficient sleep, and an overabundance of substance usage in society. Living in an atmosphere of fear, blame, and comparison we seek to grow and thrive in our current world.

My Background and Approach

I began my career as Clinical Nutritionist in acute care hospital settings. With my psychotherapy license added to nutrition training, I help patients design worlds in which to live well and maximize meaning. This includes appreciating our past efforts and the challenges we have already faced. It also means openness to continued learning about ourselves and those around us. In 2013 I helped found Valley Federation of Eating Disorder Professionals (VFED) to increase access to care and further training and collaboration amongst specialists in LA. I remain on the board in a strategic planning capacity. I attend the Los Angeles Consortium of Grief Professionals and I I have formal training in Hospice and End of Life issues. Through Metta Institute- inspired by the Buddhist tradition, I have completed "Mindful and Compassionate Service” and “Cultivating Presence & Resilience”.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Being completely recovered from my own Eating Disorder as well as finding myself in some Twelve Step rooms, I am fascinated by the endlessly unique paths we each walk in life to become our best selves. Also, I have lost several family members to cancer so I have lots of personal Grief experience- as will as professional training. I practice Mindfulness through Jon Kabat Zinn and Insight LA and I try each day to embrace the concept of "impermanence." I am aware of the many privileges in my life. I believe our ability to change the world is limited only by our ability to understand and to care for ourselves, while caring for each other. Those who work with me are familiar with my love of Mindfulness Meditation, Yoga, and Farmers Markets. Also the need to break a sweat on a regular basis, the importance of cats, and my longing for the forests of New England and the beaches of the Atlantic.
