Hello- I have 30 years of experience helping individuals, families, and groups to explore and resolve sources of unhappiness in their lives.

Regrets and worries can stall our growth in life. We need not be in denial- yet rooting our experience in the present is our only means of connection with ourselves and the world. Knowing our current thoughts and feelings as we experience them. I have studied Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, a proven method for successful treatment for various symptoms of panic and anxiety. I can assist in Breathing Meditation, Walking Meditation, Yoga, and Body Scan, as well as Mindful Eating experiences.
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. But it is also true that we are largely ruled by our unconscious. Let's spend time understanding a bit of how you got to be who you are, with compassion and trust that you have done the best you could. And courage to know where your choices are going forward. Examining your past is not about blame or excuses, but about acceptance of what has been and creative awareness of personal growth going forward.
Personal growth is so... personal. How could I know more than you of what you want and need at any given time? MI is a respectful system that helps you determine your own goals. I will not be telling you what to do or think; I will be there beside you listening carefully so that you can hear yourself. This way we can get you further down the road to knowing yourself and living your values.
I shifted from work in Clinical Nutrition in the acute care setting to Psychotherapy when I knew I wanted to treat Eating Disorders. The miracle of recovery that I experienced in a relatively short time, inspired me to learn how that came to be. Anorexia, Bulimia, and Compulsive Overeating are issuer related to Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma; they result in medical issues related to nutrition- so this expertise is essential as well.
Change is the only constant, and everything must change. Which is hard. Because whereas change is good, loss is painful. Let me guide you through the process of accepting your loss. Loved ones and pets leave a hole in our lives and we are never the same. We will look at the meaning of loss in your life as well as explore unexpected feelings that may be arising.
Most family members I have lost have been to Cancer- including my teenage son in 2005. I have extensive experience as a loved one as well as a continued fascination with the evolution of treatment. The idea- as with other medical dilemmas, is to get to the point that Cancer is a chronic disease when not curable. And we are getting there! Still, this diagnosis provides ample opportunity for existential exploration as well as some good grief work.
