About My Clients
I believe in the transformative power of storytelling and see each client as the expert of their life narrative. By helping clients re-author their stories, I empower them to reclaim their identities and find strength amidst adversity. I am particularly passionate about addressing the mental health needs of people of color, and recognizing the unique challenges they face in navigating invisible systems of oppression.
My Background and Approach
As a woman of color, I bring a unique and critical perspective to my practice, deeply rooted in understanding the complex interplay of race, culture, and systemic oppression. By fostering a collaborative therapeutic environment, I ensure that my clients' voices are heard and respected, encouraging a partnership that honors their lived experiences. I employ a strengths-based approach, helping clients to uncover and build upon their inherent resilience. My therapeutic style is warm, empathetic, and empowering, fostering a safe space where clients can explore their narratives without fear of judgment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all humans deserve respect, dignity, and acceptance. I believe that context goes a long way in shaping our beliefs and behavior. My goal is to highlight for each client how their current interaction with their contexts got them to their current belief system, analyze their belief system to determine if it is working for them, and decide what changes they want to make to be the human that they want to be in the face of their circumstances.
