About My Clients

I work with all ages in general mental health; however, my specialty is working with children/adolescents ages 3-17 in all areas, including LGBTQIA+ & trauma. Children have yet to learn all the feelings they feel or what to call them. Together, we use different techniques that best helps the client express themselves and find the words to help them talk to their family & friends in a way that is understood. At BHCS we want every client to feel safe and heard and without judgment.

My Background and Approach

I have more than 17 years of experience in the mental health field. Even as a child, I had family members with mental health challenges. I use different form and techniques to work work with each client, as there is no 2 individual who is alike. Everything is individualized to the client to best help the client obtain and maintain treatment goals. Some of the approaches include: Art Therapy and Play Therapy techniques, including sand tray. Solution Focus, CBT, TF-CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Grief & Loss, Person-Centered and Trauma-Focused and more. You will be provided with knowledge and know-how to take with you even after therapy services have completed. We all have the tools we need to get through life; we just have not all been taught to use those tools yet.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe we all have a purpose in this life. I look at our children and see what the future could bring. I feel everyone has a right to their feelings and those should always be validated. Even if we do not always understand the "why" someone feels the way they do (i.e. an individual who tells their family they are gay or transgender) who are we to tell them they are wrong? I believe everyone has a right to be truly happy, and if that means someone dresses differently or has a different view or belief, why should they be shunned or made fun of? It is not our right to judge another individual. Human kindness is to lift the spirit of others, regardless of how young they may be or how old they maybe, if they are male, female, gay, lesbian, transgender, it does not matter. Strip all that away and we are all the same, we have feelings that need validation, fears that need to be soothed and a need to feel accepted and not judged.
