About My Clients
Therapy is the hardest work you will ever engage in and it has the potential to be the most rewarding. We all have a greater purpose and the inner abilities to heal but sometimes need help tapping into our inner strengths and learning to use them for healing. That is what I am here for. I don't do the work for you, but can help and support you along the way. Life without meaning and joy is no way to live. Don't let fear get in the way of living your best life.
My Background and Approach
I have a holistic perspective and approach counseling from a strengths-based rather than a deficit-based perspective. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a PhD. I see adults and older adults and use evidence-based treatment modalities and have experience with: Obsessive-compulsive disorder Anxiety and panic disorder Trichotillomania (hair pulling) Dermatillomania (skin picking) Hoarding disorder Depression Post-traumatic stress disorder Acute stress Substance abuse Binge eating Grief and loss Caregiver stress I incorporate mindfulness-based practices to increase self-compassion and acceptance. I regularly engage in professional training to learn new techniques and reinforce my current practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe in human compassion and potential. We all have a greater purpose and core values that define us and therefore need to live a life that moves us toward what is important. I have suffered with depression and anxiety and I am a parent to a child with OCD with Tourettes and severe anxiety, so I know what it is like to experience and overcome depression and anxiety and to see someone you love suffer.
