About My Clients

I welcome and value clients of all backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. I work with women, men, & teens, individuals and families; gay, straight, trans, gender fluid, queer & questioning. Having moved to Portland from the Bay Area, my practice tends to attract people who value diversity and social and political engagement and want to include these principles in their treatment. Most of my clients are trauma survivors of recent or acute trauma or people with persistent and pervasive anxiety.

My Background and Approach

I operate from an actively antiracist, equity based, social justice perspective. I have trained in multiple modalities such as: EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Humanistic, Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, Solution-Focused, and Mindfulness practices. I am a Certified EMDR provider, meaning I have completed all EMDR trainings and all certification standards. Continuing education is extremely important to me. Every year, I exceed the requirements for continuing education so I may offer clients the most effective, research-based interventions available and continue to integrate methods from a variety of theoretical orientations. I think humor, fun, and creativity can add a lot to the therapeutic experience, as well as alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma symptoms. Even when working through very difficult feelings or traumas, I hope to help clients experience joy and laughter in life again.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Portland is a great town and we plan to stay and enjoy the city, as well as the gorgeous Gorge and other natural areas, for years to come. When I am not working, I can be found hiking, camping, adventuring, advocating, and spending quality time with family and friends. I am a member of several advocacy organizations which aim to improve both the quality and availability of mental health services in Oregon. I also have firm beliefs in non-violent, consent based communication and action. I have published a joyful children's picture book which affirms that developing consent skills is a natural, positive, and fun experience: Want A Hug?: Consent and Boundaries for Kids.
