Treating sexual assault and abuse survivors has been a primary focus throughout my career. Helping people heal from these crimes and renew their sense of safety and personal empowerment is a privilege and an honor. I have also written a children's book on consent for the very youngest members of our society as a means of educating both parents and children on consent and increasing empathy and healthy, safe communication in our world .

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is treatable and curable and requires advanced training on part of the provider. I front load treatment of trauma with self-regulation, self-soothing, and containment skills so clients may feel safe, calm, and secure during trauma treatment. I use a combination of EMDR, IFS, somatic based interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques, along with an open heart and empathy to help you heal and create the life you want.

Anxiety is on a spectrum. Whether you have anxiety all day long/every day, or intermittent anxiety that shows up at certain times or in certain situations; whether you know where the anxiety is coming from or not, you can feel calmer, safer, and reduce your anxiety with a combination of cognitive and body-based interventions. Anxiety is a normal part of life. Too much anxiety that is keeping you from pursuing goals, relationships, etc. can be reduced and managed.

Repeated studies show that by using EMDR, people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. EMDR training consists of Level 1, Level 2 and Certification. Then, providers could become a consultant or trainer to other professionals. I am a Certified EMDR provider.

CBT can help a person: recognize distortions in thinking that are creating problems, reevaluate beliefs in light of facts and evidence, gain a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of self and others, use problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations, learn to develop a greater sense of confidence, change behavior patterns, face one's fears instead of avoiding them, use role play to practice new skills, and calm one's mind and body. I use CBT in combination with EMDR.

We live within systems-families, neighborhoods, communities, school, workplaces, recreation, towns, cities, states, countries, the world & each of these systems has a culture of it's own. Our ethnicity, beliefs, customs, gender identity, economic status, religion, etc. all contribute to our cultural identity. I commit to acknowledging, and having awareness of: access, privilege, bias, and systemic barriers, as it is crucial in helping clients achieve their personal goals.
