Christina Wohleber

I have an extensive knowledge and background in treating individuals whom experience a traumatic event. I enjoy working with individuals to process and assist in making choices to strengthen their ability to trust and feel safe within current and future interpersonal relationships. Currently I hold the following certifications: Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Family Trauma Professional, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

I am a Board Certified Transgender Care Therapist. Some of the work I provide to my clients are processing current feelings related to gender identity, navigating the complexities of stressors that may come along their journey, and assist in connecting to safe and reliable community resources. As a Board Certified Transgender Care Therapist I am familiar with assisting individuals in completing required documentation for documenting medical necessity of needed medical treatment.

As a therapist that provides care to complex cases I am familiar with the potential of experiencing burnout & compassion fatigue. It is an honor to work with professionals across a variety of settings, such as nurses, physical therapists, doctors, military members, and all others within the helping professional world to explore stressors and identify ways to practice self-care. I am well-versed in working with individuals prone to compassion fatigue to ensure their valued work has limited impact

I have experience in being trained and conducting individual and group DBT. In addition, I developed and implemented a DBT program within an outpatient community mental health center. As a result I have extensive knowledge in how to utilize DBT principles within therapeutic sessions to assist in increasing emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness among other skills to address areas of concern.

Throughout my career I have relied on CBT principles to assist within therapy sessions. I have assisted individuals in learning how to use short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment to address behaviors and thought patterns. I have worked with others to a practical approach to problem-solving by working with the individual to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people's difficulties and so change the way they feel.

As a person-centered therapist I take the lead from the individual I am working with. Together we collaboratively work to identify current concerns, barriers, and problem solve how to combat these areas. I am honored to be able to provide supportive genuineness, positive regard, and empathy to those I work with in order to allow them to collaborate within our work together.

I have extensive history in working with other therapists. I understand the importance of being able to provide a safe space to allow for fellow therapists to unpack and process areas of concern. Additionally I am well versed in the art of being able to ensure our sessions provide psychotherapy specific to your needs and not fall more into the realm of supervision although discussions surrounding transference and countertransference are welcomed if it aligns with meeting your needs.
