About My Clients
We queer folks navigate the world differently than cis-het individuals, which comes with both unique challenges and profound beauty. While I work with folks of all identities, my specialty lies in supporting LGBTQIA+ folks. I aim to create a safe, affirming, and empowering space that honors your lived experience -- where you can gain insight, embrace your emotions, cultivate a kinder relationship with yourself, and connect more deeply with your authentic self.
My Background and Approach
Come just as you are -- I’ll meet you there, with steady support and a space that gently challenges you and invites meaningful reflection. My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on insight and connection. We’ll work together to better understand you and your relationships, uncovering patterns and exploring if you'd like to shift them. We will get comfy with your emotions because though society often teaches us to push away painful emotions, when we bury our feelings, they don’t disappear; they show up in our relationships, our bodies, and our everyday lives. Therapy is a space to unearth those emotions, give them room to breathe, and move through you. Feedback and collaboration is another very important ingredient in how I approach therapy. While I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing feedback as it arises, I’ll regularly check in to see how you are experiencing our work (e.g., what's helpful and not super helpful).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a white, queer, cisgender woman. I recognize that the identities that we hold impact the way in which we navigate the world. Often, people are capable of much more than we settle for, and society can stifle our ability to live up to this potential. In taking this into consideration, I endeavor to empower you and help you to work toward your potential and happiness. My clinical work has been heavily influenced by my social justice and anti-oppression values. I seek to empower my clients by exploring how dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression have shaped their lives and/or resulted in trauma. I am on an un-ending journey to do better and be better for my clients, both personally and as a therapist. I strive for cultural humility and to provide the most culturally-responsive services. I am part of the clinical team at the Aguirre Center for Inclusive Psychotherapy, which specializes in providing anti-oppressive services.
