About My Clients
I opened this private practice to give hope and walk alongside people through life’s challenges, transitions, and potential opportunities. Life is not always easy, and it is much better not to face all life’s curveballs alone. Does the type of curveball matter? Would you see an orthopedic surgeon for a heart issue? My practice specializes in curveballs related to infertility, maternal mental health, and transition stress or trauma. I also conduct third-party reproduction assessments.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to create a genuine and affirming environment so that you can freely be who you want to be, and we can work through the stuck to a value-driven life. I reflect genuine positive regard and believe you are doing your best. I also know that struggles like infertility, pregnancy, motherhood, break-ups are incredibly lonely and isolating. I attended Duke University for my BS, MA, and PhD in Psychology. I loved psychology since high school when I grew up in Belgium. My only debate was about whether to pursue psychiatry or psychology. Ultimately, the human connection and working with people in therapy made me feel psychology was the best fit. I received broad and empirically validated therapeutic and research experiences in graduate school. I work from a value-driven approach and use ACT, CBT, DBT, and human-centered approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my work, I believe everyone is trying their best. In parenthood, I aim to be a good enough mom. In tennis, I tell myself to hit the ball harder; it is more fun. In life, we can do hard things, and we can fly if we try. Personally, I went through infertility and did IVF 11 times. I have had three losses. I have a baby that survived at 26 weeks and 1.5 pounds and 124 days in the NICU. My gestational carrier brought my twin boys to life, and I am eternally grateful. I weathered a painful, messy divorce. I am a proud mom to three children and have a loving and supportive girlfriend.
