About My Clients
Mountain View Therapy clients are a diverse in age, race, culture, religion, etc. But the clients that seek us out are typically looking for a therapist who has a lot of experience working with LGBTQ+ folks and/or people who are ethically non-monogamous, polyamorous, or exploring those ideas. As a queer person myself, I am passionate about working with people who are questioning and subverting societal discourses around sexuality, gender and relationships and.
My Background and Approach
I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with 15 years of experience in the field. I've been in private practice since 2014, mainly serving folks in the LGBTQ+ and ENM/poly communities. In 2021, Bailey Schendell and I opened Mountain View Therapy. Together, we are creating a team of therapists dedicated to Narrative Practice and LGBTQ+ and poly affirming care. At MVT, we practice from a Narrative Therapy approach. We believe you are the expert in your own life. We believe problems are made stronger by societal discourses that people are subjected to, discourses that often place the problem inside of people. Problems are problems- people are never problems. We hope to help you step away from the problem's story of your life and connect with your own preferred story and ways of being in the world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in supporting the next generation of good therapists. I'm stepping away from seeing clients myself and moving toward training and supervising other therapists to become Narrative Therapists who are grounded in the same values and practices.
