About My Clients
Populations that I have specific experience working with include first responders, parents (especially stepparents), college students, those working in helping professions, Jehovah Witnesses, and family members of those dealing with substance use. Diagnoses that I have significant knowledge in include anxiety, depression, panic disorder, OCD, trauma/PTSD, and body dysmorphia.
My Background and Approach
I have been a master's level clinician since 2018 and have been in private practice since 2021. Prior to private practice I worked in nursing homes with Alzheimers patients, in the elementary school setting, in psychiatric hospitals with adults, and in crisis settings with children and teens. I have received additional specialized training in dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and exposure response and prevention therapy. These modalities are specifically helpful to those struggling with trauma, OCD, personality disorders, depression and anxiety. Throughout my years of experience I have also learned that mindfulness, boundary setting, self care, and psycho education have been helpful tools to provide to clients in order to help them cope with symptoms and setbacks.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I find it especially helpful to make connections between our pasts and our current behavior. I find it very important to not let our trauma have control over our current lives and it is never too late to work on this! I am open to all faiths, ethnicities, backgrounds, and sexual orientations. I find it important to take a down to earth approach with clients and to use humor in sessions. I have tried my best to create and cozy and comfy office space where clients can feel comfortable emotionally and physically.
