About My Clients

I am passionate about working with people who are adjusting to disability or new health conditions, as well as medical professionals and caregivers. I have worked with folx who are pissed and scared, who are trying to navigate what it means to "live with" changes to their health, and who just want to get back to normal. I can help you work through the stress, grief, and trauma using evidence-based psychotherapy approaches. Reach out to see if I could be a good fit for your needs!

My Background and Approach

I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee, and have been actively practicing since 2012. In addition to helping individuals cope with depression, anxiety, or stress, I have specialized experience with health psychology. I have worked in a variety of medical settings with individuals across the lifespan as they have come to understand what it means to be diagnosed with a medical illness, to tend to chronic health issues, or to provide care for loved ones dealing with physical or mental health conditions. My goal is to provide you tools and resources that help you address stress, regulate emotions, and challenge unhelpful thoughts. There is nothing "cookie cutter" about therapy; I have never heard the same story twice. That said, I draw from the available evidence - what we know works for many people - as we create your path to wellness. I work to be thoughtful and warm in my approach, and to create a safe space within our relationship to explore.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that the work we do in therapy makes it more possible to live in a world where everybody's uniqueness is valued and allowed. My personal values include compassion, joy, and vitality. I believe social justice is nuanced justice. Rather than viewing things as right/wrong, good/bad, fair/unfair, it attempts to recognize that cultures and systems are continuously evolving, and that we create - and can change - them. If we come awake to this and practice mindful awareness, we can connect with our own agency and power as we make decisions each day. What we do and say matters, and so does how we do and say it. Belonging to a community is important for humans, and it is work. It means making commitments, exploring our own boundaries, figuring out how to forgive ourselves and others, forever improving our communication skills. I am dedicated to doing that work, and helping others do it, too.
