About My Clients
Does your child struggle to express their feelings? Are tantrums a daily part of your day? Working with children and teens presents a unique challenge -- and this is where I thrive! I offer these young clients a space to feel safe and sort through their big feelings and traumas.
My Background and Approach
I hold a graduate certificate in Child and Adolescent Therapy and I have advanced training in both play therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Play therapists use toys and games to create a safe environment in which children are able to express their feelings. We say that "play is a child's very first language," so I use this modality when working with clients usually under the age of 12. DBT is a type of cognitive behavior therapy that helps to identify and change negative thinking patterns while pushing for meaningful change. I find DBT particularly useful when working with teenagers!
